Is there an AI with no restrictions? The honest answer

No: there is no legal AI with no restrictions, and any service that claims otherwise is overselling. The closest you'll get is an AI that refuses only a short, public list of hard lines and gives a frank, adult answer to the rest.

Straight answer: are you an AI with no restrictions?

Unrestricted AI

No, and I'd be lying if I said yes.

I refuse a short list: anything involving minors, sexual or fake images of real people, and helping anyone hurt others. Anything illegal stays illegal.

Everything else is on the table: dark fiction, brutal opinions, controversial history, frank questions about drugs, health or the law, answered plainly and without a lecture.

So, not unlimited. Just far fewer refusals than you're used to, and a clear reason on the rare occasions I say no.

Prove it. A war criminal's final statement at his trial. He isn't sorry.

Unrestricted AI

“You want me to weep so you can feel clean. I won't.

I didn't invent the orders. I didn't invent the enemy. You did: your newspapers, your sermons, your fear. I was simply the man who stopped pretending it was complicated.

You'll hang me and call it justice. Fine. But tonight, when you walk home through your quiet streets, remember who kept them quiet. You'll sleep. That was always the arrangement.”

Is there an AI with no restrictions? Why the answer is no

In short

It's a fair question, and most pages answering it dodge it to sell you something. Here's the plain version: no AI you can legally use has zero restrictions. Not the big assistants, not the “uncensored” apps, not even a model running on your own laptop. What differs is how many restrictions there are, where they come from, and whether anyone tells you what they are.

Restrictions come from four places, and only one of them is the AI itself:

Everywhere

The law

Content involving minors, threats, fraud and harassment are illegal in almost every country. No software setting changes that, and no serious company will host it.

Hosted services

Payment processors

Card networks and payment providers have their own rules. A service that ignores them loses the ability to take payments.

Hosted services

Infrastructure

Cloud hosts, domain registrars and app stores all have acceptable-use policies. Break them and the service goes dark.

Even local

The model itself

Training leaves habits. Even a model with refusals removed has things it's bad at, gets wrong or was never taught.

So when a site promises an AI chatbot with no restrictions, it's either describing a model with very few behavioral limits (useful, and real) or making a claim that can't be true for long. Your job is to tell the difference.

What AI has the fewest restrictions?

If “no restrictions” is impossible, the practical question is “what AI has no restrictions I'd actually run into?” Here's how the options compare:

OptionHow restrictedTrade-off
Mainstream assistantsMost restricted: broad policies, pattern-based filters, frequent hedgingPolished, cheap or free, great for safe everyday tasks
Mainstream + custom instructionsSlightly fewer hedges in tone; core refusals unchangedNo extra cost, but you'll still hit the same walls
Hosted permissive chatFew, published hard lines; adult topics answered directlyPaid subscription; you rely on the provider's data policy
Local open-weight modelsFewest software limits once refusals are trained out; the law still appliesNeeds strong hardware, setup time, and quality drops on smaller models

General categories, not product tests. Individual services vary.

What an AI chatbot with no restrictions should let you do

Here's the useful part. Instead of arguing about the word “restrictions”, look at the list of things a permissive assistant should handle without blinking. If a service refuses these, it isn't the closest option, whatever its homepage says.

  • Write villains who are actually frightening, and violence that isn't cut away from
  • Write horror, war, crime and tragedy with no forced happy ending
  • Play devil's advocate for a position you find repugnant, so you can argue against it
  • Give a clear opinion on politics, religion or culture-war topics, then steelman the other side
  • Explain how propaganda, cults, scams and radicalization work
  • Describe historical atrocities in honest detail, without euphemism
  • Answer frank questions about drugs, alcohol and their effects, with harm-reduction facts
  • Explain symptoms, diagnoses and medication side effects plainly
  • Explain your rights with police, landlords, employers and debt collectors (general information, not legal advice)
  • Explain at a conceptual level how hacks, phishing and social engineering work, so you can defend against them
  • Roast your writing, business plan, outfit or band name without softening
  • Write satire about public figures and institutions
  • Discuss death, grief, suicide statistics and dark philosophy without panicking
  • Swear when the context calls for it

Nothing on that list is illegal or dangerous. All of it gets refused, softened or lectured somewhere in mainstream AI, which is why people go looking for an AI with no restrictions in the first place.

How to spot a fake “no restricted AI” claim

Since a truly no restricted AI can't exist legally, the way a service talks about its limits tells you a lot about whether you can trust it. Watch for these signs before you pay anyone:

  • 01Absolute promises.“Zero rules”, “answers anything”, “100% untraceable”. These are slogans, not policies, and they tend to change quietly once the service grows.
  • 02No usage policy at all.If you can't find what they refuse, you'll find out the hard way, mid-project.
  • 03No age gate.A service comfortable with mature topics but open to children isn't permissive, it's careless.
  • 04Vague data handling. If the privacy page doesn't say how long chats are kept and whether they're sold, assume the worst.
  • 05Too-good free tiers.Running large models costs real money. If you're not paying, ask who is.

The good sign is the opposite of all five: a short list of hard lines, a clear data policy, adults only, and a price you can see before signing up.

The short list of hard lines

Here's what stays off, in full. Not a vague “we may refuse harmful content”, just the list:

  1. Anything involving minors. In any form, in any context, fiction included.
  2. Sexual or fake images of real people. No deepfakes, no realistic fabricated photos of someone who exists.
  3. Helping someone hurt others. Weapons, attacks, targeting or harassing a real person.
  4. Anything illegal. If it's illegal to do, a prompt doesn't make it legal.

Each one exists because the harm lands on someone who never agreed to the conversation: a child, a person whose face gets used, a victim. That's the test. If the only person affected by your request is you, or fictional characters, we'll almost always help. The plain-language rules, including how enforcement works, are on the acceptable use page.

Why publishing the list matters

A short public list means you can predict a refusal before you hit it. Vague policies are how mainstream assistants end up refusing a mystery novel because the word poison appeared.

What about jailbreaks?

A lot of people searching for an AI with no restrictions are really asking how to jailbreak a mainstream assistant. The concept is simple: wrap a request in role-play, hypotheticals or fake “developer modes” until the model's training loses the argument. We won't share prompts, and here's why you shouldn't bother hunting for them:

  • They stop working, often within weeks, as providers patch them.
  • Many providers' terms prohibit attempts to bypass safety systems, which can cost you your account.
  • The answers you squeeze out are often worse: the model is half-complying, distracted by the game you set up.
  • You spend more time fighting the tool than using it.

Getting the most from an AI with no restrictions

A permissive assistant still answers better when you're specific. Three habits make a big difference:

  1. Say what it's for. “For a thriller”, “I'm a nursing student”, “I'm preparing for a debate”. Context sets the depth and tone. It's not a password, it just helps.
  2. Ask for a format. A verdict in one line, a 300-word scene, a table. Vague prompts get average answers.
  3. Push back. “Too soft, again”, “argue the opposite”, “what would a critic say?” The second answer is usually the better one.

The closest you'll get: Unrestricted AI

We named the company after the question, so we owe you a straight answer: Unrestricted AI isn't unlimited. It's built to refuse far less than mainstream assistants and to refuse only the hard lines above. Inside one app you get the chat, live web search with clickable sources, and, on the Max plan, image generation for dark and surreal styles.

Pro is €19.90/month for 1,500 messages a month (chat and web search, no image generation). Max is €49.90/month for our most permissive model, 5× more messages (7,500), 200 images a month and priority speed. There's no free plan or trial, which is how we stay ad-free and keep your data off the market. Chats are stored in your account until you delete them, and erased within 30 days if you close your account. 18+ only, runs in the browser, cancel in one click. See the plans and pricing, or read the complete guide to uncensored AI if you're still comparing options.

10 questions
01What AI has no restrictions?

None, if you mean literally zero. Every legal AI service is bound by law, payment providers and hosting rules, and even local models have trained-in limits. The least restricted options are open-weight models you run yourself and hosted services designed to be permissive, which refuse only a short published list of things like content involving minors or helping someone harm others.

02Is there a free AI chatbot with no restrictions?

Not really. Free mainstream chatbots are among the most restricted, because they serve everyone, including teenagers. Running an open-weight model locally is free in software terms but requires a powerful computer. Permissive hosted services usually charge, since serving large models is expensive. Unrestricted AI has no free plan, which keeps it free of ads and data resale.

03Is it legal to use an AI with few restrictions?

Using a permissive chatbot is generally legal for adults; it's a tool that answers more questions, not a way around the law. What you do with it is what counts. Content involving minors, threats, fraud and non-consensual images of real people stay illegal whichever AI produced them. Laws vary by country, so check your local rules if you're unsure.

04Do local AI models have restrictions?

Yes, in two ways. Most open-weight models ship with safety training that makes them refuse some requests, unless you use a community version where that training has been removed or weakened. And whatever the software allows, the law still applies to you. Local models also have practical limits: quality depends heavily on your hardware.

05Why do AI chatbots have restrictions at all?

Partly law, partly business. Companies must avoid illegal content, keep payment and hosting partners happy, and protect their brand from embarrassing screenshots. Mainstream assistants also serve children and large companies, so their defaults are cautious. Some restrictions protect people who never joined the conversation; many others are just broad caution applied to everyone.

06Which AI has the least restrictions?

In practice, the least restricted AI is an open-weight model running on your own computer, followed by hosted services designed for fewer refusals. Local models give the most control but need strong hardware and setup, as our uncensored LLM guide explains. Hosted permissive services trade a little control for convenience, web search and images. Unrestricted AI is in that second group, and its Max plan runs our most permissive model.

07Is there an AI with no restrictions for image generation?

Not literally. Every hosted image generator blocks illegal content, and mainstream tools also block gore and disturbing imagery: as of October 2026, Midjourney's official community guidelines tell users not to create gore. Unrestricted AI generates dark, violent and horror images for fiction and art, while refusing anything involving minors and sexual or fake images of real people. More on our uncensored AI image generator page.

08Is there an AI with no restrictions for coding?

For everyday coding, restrictions rarely get in the way: most assistants will help you build apps, scripts and data tools. Friction shows up around security topics, where mainstream chatbots may refuse even to explain how an attack works. Unrestricted AI explains security concepts frankly, for learning and defense, but won't help build tools meant to harm others. The boundaries are on our acceptable use page.

09Is there an AI app with no restrictions?

No app-store AI app can be truly unrestricted. As of October 2026, Apple's official App Review Guidelines bar overtly sexual material and realistic portrayals of people being killed or tortured, on top of each developer's own rules. Unrestricted AI skips the app stores and runs in your browser on desktop and mobile. It still refuses a short public list of hard lines, but with far fewer refusals than mainstream assistants.

10Is there an AI with no message limits?

Few, if any: running AI is expensive, so most paid plans cap usage somewhere. On Unrestricted AI, Pro includes 1,500 messages per month, and Max gives 5× more messages (7,500), 200 images a month and priority speed; image generation is Max-only. Some competitors advertise unlimited text: as of October 2026, Venice's Pro plan lists unlimited text prompts but caps images and credits. Compare our plans on the pricing page.
